On paper the two are a match made in heaven. Millsap


accounts for Jokic’s defensive weaknesses while the Jokic can


enhance Millsap’s play on the other end of the loor. Following


the All-Star break it seemed both players had bought in. he


aggressive mentality and leadership of Jokic allowed him to


make the team better overall.


he biggest jump the Jokic took in his third season was his


shooting from the perimeter. He shot a shade under 40% from


the arc on nearly 4 attempts per game. Among centers who


shot 3 times or more, he was ith in the league in that area.


But it’s his passing that truly sets him apart as a big man.


His 6.1 assists per game (the same as Stephen Curry’s average


for the season) put him in the top 15 in the NBA. His passing


translated to team success. Per NBA.com, games where Jokic


racked up 10 more assists the Nuggets won 11 of 13 games.


He was more aggressive, which led him to taking more free


throws and in-turn shooting a higher clip from the char-


ity stripe. His comfort within his role as the fulcrum of the


Nuggets ofense allowed him to be a more efective player that


opposing teams would have to spend hours scouting.


He continued to make improvements to his body which


meant he could be a more versatile defender. He put up a
