THE WORLD THIS MONTH

The €35million that Milan paid Genoa
in the January transfer window for the
Polish striker is already looking like
money well spent.
The 23-year-old has carried on at his
new club where he left off with his old
one, grabbing spectacular goals and
leading the scoring charts for both.
His goal against Chievo in March
secured Milan’s fifth successive Serie A
victory and consolidated their challenge
for a return to the Champions League.
A potential third place behind Juventus
and Napoli would be their highest finish
for six seasons.
Piatek – pronounced “Piontek” – has
also weighed in with eight goals in four
Italian Cup matches, helping Milan to
reach the semi-finals.
Looking for his first silverware as a
coach, Milan’s Gennaro Gattuso says
of his new signing: “Piatek’s a guy of few
words. He’s a bit like Robocop. All he says
is “I want to score, I want to score’.”
