Sid Lowe reports Dani Carvajal summed it up in a single
word but the sight of him – and of the
man behind him – said so much more.
At the end of Real Madrid’s 4-1 defeat
against Ajax, Carvajal stood in front of the
TV camera on the touchline at the
Santiago Bernabeu, holding back the
tears, a hollow look on his face, at a loss
to explain what had just happened.
“I have never had this feeling before,”
he admitted. “I don’t know how to explain
it, this feeling is so...bad. In a week we
lost it all; we lost it all at home.”
