(Romina) #1
The Green
Hornet (Thur)

WEDNESDAY

The Hangover

9pm ITV

This classic bachelor party caper
launched Bradley Cooper to global
fame and just gets funnier with
repeat viewing. A gang of stag
revellers, including Zach Galifianakis’
hilarious ‘lone wolf’, must track
down a missing groom in Las Vegas.
(2009/15) ★★★★★

Pride and Prejudice

and Zombies

11.15pm Film

Tongue-in-cheek genre mash-up,
with the undead unleashed on the
characters of Jane Austen’s classic
romantic novel. There’s lots of gore
and gags as Lily James portrays
heroine Elizabeth Bennet, who kicks
serious zombie ass in a corset.
(2016/15) ★★★

THURSDAY

The Green Hornet

9pm Comedy Central

This was a box-office flop but, to be
fair, it’s far from the worst superhero
film you’ll see. Seth Rogen plays a
wise-cracking playboy who becomes
a masked crimefighter with the
help of his kung-fu expert sidekick,
Kato (Jay Chou). (2011/12) ★★★

Angels & Demons

9pm 5Star

Tom Hanks and Ewan McGregor top
the bill in the big-screen version of
Dan Brown’s mega-selling book,
forming the sequel to 2006’s
underwhelming The Da Vinci Code.
This time the plot is slightly less

incomprehensible and there’s more
action. (2009/12) ★★★

FRIDAY

The Big Lebowski
9pm TCM
The tag ‘cult classic’ is attached to
every Coen brothers movie but it’s
entirely justified here. In a Raymond
Chandler-inspired crime comedy,
Jeff Bridges plays an LA slacker
called The Dude who gets caught
up in a farcical kidnapping plot.
(1998/18) ★★★★

X-Men: Apocalypse
9pm Film
The ninth instalment of the sci-fi
franchise set around the Marvel
Universe is a corker. Oscar Isaac is
on board as an ancient mutant
who recruits Magneto in an evil
plot to destroy mankind. Can
Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) stop
them? (2016/12) ★★★★

Hot Shots!
11.25pm Comedy Central
The camp posturing of Top Gun
was ripe for mickey-taking and this
action comedy gleefully obliged.
Charlie Sheen plays a maverick pilot
on a dangerous mission with dozens
of hysterical Naked Gun-esque sight
gags. (1991/PG) ★★★

A Most Violent Year
11.35pm BBC
Nuanced, slow-burning thriller with
the reliably excellent Oscar Isaac as
an ambitious immigrant running a
New York oil company in 1981. When
his truck drivers keep getting
hijacked, he must consider fighting
force with force. (2014/15) ★★★★
