150 JULY 2019

A room full of treadmills
will only get you so far in
your quest for total fitness.
From nutritional support and
rehab programmes to post-
workout massage therapies
and meditation, here are four
gyms in Singapore that take
a holistic approach to health.

Ultimate Performance Singapore
It’s all about no-nonsense training here. Ultimate Performance (UP) is for those
who mean business and want to achieve serious, hard-evidence results. (If you’re
looking for a one-hour, once-weekly workout, this place isn’t for you!) Clients are
encouraged to sign up for a 12-week programme, with three one-hour sessions
per week. Priding themselves on “bucking the system” by going beyond what
a standard personal trainer would do at a commercial gym, UP’s trainers take
a “holistic, global” approach, customising realistic solutions for each client’s
individual lifestyle – from advice on diet and supplements to travel health, and
stress and sleep tips – making it not only a physical transformation but a lifestyle
transformation, too.
UP uses mostly weight-based, high-intensity training methods that have
clients burning fat long after they leave the gym. And, while UP is primarily
based on one-on-one personal training, they do offer a small selection of group
classes, which utilise the gym’s multi-station and dedicated track for group
training, aimed at effectively targeting specific muscle groups.
Gym-goers can grab pre- or post-workout protein shakes and coffee, as well as
BCAAs, at the gym’s shake bar, while clients can also sign up for EatUP,UP’s weekday
meal service, which aims to help individuals eat healthily through a selection of
high-protein, low-carb dishes.
Special Offer: Expat Living readers will receive five complimentary gourmet EatUP meals when
they sign up for any UP package. To qualify, show UP an image of this article (T&C’s apply).
