As we were moving into our new place,
an original vintage condition 40-year-old
HDB flat, it definitely needed a new vibe
with a new sofa!
Being a small apartment, we wanted the
furniture to have a smaller profile but be
tasteful and thoughtful.
We have always loved the simplicity
and beauty of Scanteak furniture. It suits
the look of our indie-vintage themed
house. We have furnished nearly all our
home with Scanteak products! The sofa
is part of the Prologue Series and we
purchased the full set, which includes
the duo sofa, single sofa and coffee table.
The Scanteak team is so easy to work with
and we will absolutely turn to them again
for any future spaces. I love the durability
of their furniture. Some of the pieces are
over five years old but still look as good as
new. Their pieces definitely age gracefully.

When we renovated our house, we decided to combine the family room with the
dining area rather than have two rooms on separate floors. This allowed the family to
spend more time together, especially during the week when we eat at different times.
We had some very specific requirements for our new sofa to fit this new space.
The material needed to be tough and durable to withstand rough family treatment.

We had decided on denim, but washable
denim was a difficult material to find.
The sofa also needed to be sturdy and
retain its shape. It had to be over four metres
long and deep enough to fill the space but
also to allow the family to sink into it. Finally,
we wanted it low to the ground in case the
little ones rolled off.
We found Gallery 278 to be the only store
that was able to create a quality customised
sofa of this size and in the material we
wanted. The team was exceptionally easy
to work with and the dark sea-blue colour
looks great with our beachy feel in the room.
After a year in the trenches (the kids and
Doogie like to catapult themselves onto it
at top speed!), the sofa has held up, the
material is comfortable, and the chocolate,
Ribena and other stains have been easy to
clean off. In spite of telling the kids not to,
it’s amazing what they try to hide down the
back of the cushions!
