It will soon be possible to harness the cleanest and
most abundant renewable energy source in the world,
in an efficient manner. Physicists at the University of
Toledo made a breakthrough in the chemical formula of
solar cells and process to make a new material.An ultra-
high efficiency material called a tandem perovskite solar
cell is being developed, which will help solve the world
energy crisis. Perovskites would replace silicon, which
till now, remains the most preferred solar-cell materialfor
converting the sun’s light into electrical energy.
Here’s a specialized microscope that can both
diagnose diseases including skin cancer, and perform
precise surgery, all without cutting the skin. University
of British Columbia researchers havedeveloped this
microscope which can scan tissue quickly, and on
finding a suspicious or abnormal cell structure, it can
even perform ‘ultra-precise surgery and selectively treat
the unwanted or diseased structure within the tissue --
without cutting into the skin.’ This special device treats
the tissue by intensifying the heat produced by the laser.
It can treat any structure of the body that the light can
reach, including nerves or blood vessels in the skin, eye,
