SIMONE ROCHA X THE LOUISE
BOURGEOIS FOUNDATION
Rocha has always professed her love
for Louise Bourgeois, and indeed their
works have visibly explored similar
themes—often intensely personal and
taking inspiration from the female form,
as well as from the tension between
tenderness and strength, intimacy and
sexuality, having agency and being
objectified. This season, Rocha took her
admiration one step further by officially
collaborating with the Louise Bourgeois
Foundation on the collection’s
spiderweb-inspired embroideries and
prints, and the abstract swirling motifs
deployed on the romantic puff-shaped
silhouettes that call to mind Bourgeois’
hauntingly beautiful soft sculptures.
Rocha has also collaborated with
Bourgeois’ gallery, Hauser & Wirth, on
earrings inspired by the artist’s eerily
poetic hanging sculptures.
