For a label that recognises the importance of both traditional
values and relevance, Louis Vuitton’s enlisting of Francesca
Amfitheatrof as artistic director of jewellery and watches
sometime last year couldn’t be more fitting. She single-
handedly refreshed the slate at Tiffany & Co. a few years back
with her minimalist T collection, effortlessly balancing tradition
and modernity, and has begun running the gamut on reworking
references from Louis Vuitton’s storied legacy.
Georges-Louis Vuitton’s star-shaped flower design serves as
the very first reference point for Amfitheatrof. Introduced in
1896, the designer brings the iconic motif into the 21st century
with a bold silhouette update. Fashion-friendly chain-link
jewellery gives a new lease of life to the monogram flowers as
demonstrated by the B.Blossom bracelets and drop earrings.
Available in pink or yellow gold, the pieces exude unapologetic
femininity and uber-confidence.
Ideal for those who desire something unique and thoughtful,
the B.Blossom collection is enriched with a bead and a
pendant flower—enclosed in an openwork square frame—
which can be worked into bracelets and necklaces. Sculpted
mother-of-pearl along with other precious gems such as onyx
and opal are brought into play to lend a pop of colour to these
streamlined talismans, and also the seven understated rings
in the range.
Boasting incandescent malachite, onyx, white agate, pink opal
or diamond-pavé, the rings are designed to elicit the many
facets of women—the cool and composed, the elegant and the
romantic. There are also bands that are stripped to the bare
bones, leaving only four dots of diamonds at the centre to make
up a star-shaped floral. Amfitheatrof’s interpretation of the
word heritage is finally materialised in three yellow-gold signet
rings embellished with either carved onyx or diamond-pave.
Women Nowadays
Feeding off the vision of confident women, the B.Blossom fine jewellery
collection marks Francesca Amfitheatrof’s stunning debut at Louis Vuitton.
