I

n this image-saturated world, seeing real
depictions of women’s bodies can provide
an essential self-confidence boost,
especially for those with marginalised body
types. This issue, we got inspired talking to members
of the bopo – body positivity – movement, who are
changing the way society views beauty.
We also share tips on how to love and accept your
body post-pregnancy, debate the usefulness of the
Body Mass Index, and ask if you could be
accidentally dieting by following unnecessarily
restrictive ways of eating. There’s no quicker way
to criticise your body than by putting yourself on a
strict diet. Diets make you feel guilty about indulging
in something you ‘shouldn’t’ have and, more often
than not, any weight you lose will bounce right back.
Instead of subtracting foods, try to think about what
foods you need to ADD for health.
Being happy in your body is also about eating
foods that feel right for you. We delve into the
concept of intuitive eating this issue, and provide a
range of recipes – from vegetarian feasts to low-
FODMAP desserts for those with IBS issues, and
winter dishes which showcase my Nude Food ethos

  • that’s food that comes from the ground, sea and
sky (not the highly processed stuff in packets!).
Speaking of health, we chat to talented Tahitian
chef Evy Hirshon, who could be the poster girl for
ageing well, meet the founder of new meditation
space Brthe, and talk to Prime Minister Jacinda
    Ardern about the Government’s innovative
Wellbeing Budget. Mental health is a priority for our
PM, as it should be for all of us. Perhaps the winter
pamper pack we’re giving away on this page could be
a good excuse to indulge in a little self-care. Stay
warm and be kind to yourself,
