and thenpursuedafellowship in plastic
surgeryatAlleghenyGeneral Hospital

in Arizona.Hepracticedhis profession
in Cleveland, OH from 1973to 1995
initiallyinprivatepractice andthen
at theCleveland Clinic, where he was
the division chief of handsurgery. In
1995,heand Kathymovedto Ambler,
PA wherehecontinuedto practice
handsurgery in privatepractice and
as aProfessor and facultymemberof
the DepartmentofSurgeryatRutgers
Universityand the Newark,VA. He was
aworld-renowned surgeonwith an un-

of hand tumors and complex hand
surgery. Duringhis career he editedthe
definitivebook“Tumors of the Hand
and Upper Limb” and wroteseveral
journal articles and book chapterson
avariety of topicsinhand surgery. He
was alsorecognizedasapatient teacher
of severalgenerations of plastic surgery
residents.Heretired in 2014.
Earlwas adevoted father,husband
and grandfather who enjoyedhislife-
long passionofflyfishing–one sparked
by acourse giventohim by Kathy. He
spentalifetime designing andtying his
own flies,buildingbamboofly rods,
travelingaround thecountryand the
worldonfishingexpeditions,painting
hiscatches in vibrantwatercolors,and
writing articles aboutthe subjectfor
fishing magazines.Hewas anaturalist
who lovedspendingtimeoutdoors.He
was an observant Jewwho delighted in
learning aboutJewishhistoryand the
Kabbalah.
In hisretirement, Earl greatly
enjoyedspending time withhis three
beloved grandchildren.Hewillbe
deeply missed by his friends, family,
andall who knewhim.
