12 ) Referring to Diagram 7, sew together

to right-hand edge of unit.

13 ) Join section E to bottom edge of Step 12

ASSEMBLE FRIENDSHIP STAR BLOCKS
1 ) Use a pencil to mark a diagonal line on
wrong side of each white polka dot 2^1 ⁄ 8 "
square. (To prevent fabric from stretching
as you draw lines, place 220-grit sandpaper
under each square.)

2 ) Layer a marked white polka dot square atop
an aqua polka dot 2^1 ⁄ 8 " square. Sew together
with two seams, stitching^1 ⁄ 4 " on each side
of drawn line (Diagram 9). Cut pair apart
on drawn line. Press open to make two
triangle-squares. Each triangle-square should
be 1^3 ⁄ 4 " square including seam allowances.
Repeat to make 12 triangle-squares total.

10 ) Continue adding pieces in order, trimming,
stitching, and pressing in the same
manner, until you have pieced entire
section A foundation paper; press, leaving
paper in place. Using a rotary cutter and
a clear ruler, trim along dashed outer
lines to make section A (Diagram 6).
Remove foundation paper carefully to
avoid pulling or distorting block.

11 ) In the same manner, use red gingham, mint
green bow print, pink print, and gray tone-
on-tone pieces to foundation-piece sleigh
block sections B–F (diagrams 7 and 8).
