dot 1^3 ⁄ 4 × 41 ⁄ 4 " rectangle to top edge of a

Friendship Star block and aqua polka dot

41 ⁄ 4 × 43 ⁄ 4 " rectangle to bottom edge. Add

aqua polka dot 2× 93 ⁄ 4 " rectangle to make a

left star unit. The unit should be 5^3 ⁄ 4 × 93 ⁄ 4 "

including seam allowances.

3 ) Referring to Diagram 15, sew aqua polka

dot 2^1 ⁄ 2 × 41 ⁄ 4 " rectangles to opposite sides of

a Friendship Star block. Add aqua polka dot

13 ⁄ 4 × 81 ⁄ 4 " rectangle to make a top star unit.

The unit should be 8^1 ⁄ 4 × 51 ⁄ 2 " including seam

allowances.

4 ) Referring to Diagram 16, sew aqua polka

dot 1× 41 ⁄ 4 " rectangle to bottom edge of a

Friendship Star block. Join aqua polka dot

11 ⁄ 4 × 43 ⁄ 4 " rectangle to left-hand edge of unit.

Add aqua polka dot 3^3 ⁄ 4 × 43 ⁄ 4 " rectangle to

make a bottom star unit. The unit should

be 8^1 ⁄ 4 × 43 ⁄ 4 " including seam allowances.

5 ) Referring to Quilt Assembly Diagram,

lay out left star, top star, and bottom star

units in two vertical rows. Join top and

bottom star units. Add left star unit to

make star cluster unit. The unit should

be 13^1 ⁄ 2 × 93 ⁄ 4 " including seam allowances.

Press seams open.

6 ) Referring to Quilt Assembly Diagram,

sew aqua polka dot 3×7" rectangles to top

edges of tree blocks to make tree units.

Each unit should be 7 × 121 ⁄ 2 " including

seam allowances. Press seams open.

7 ) Referring to Quilt Assembly Diagram,

lay out sleigh, star cluster, and tree units;

cottage block; aqua polka dot 2^1 ⁄ 4 × 251 ⁄ 2 "

sashing rectangle; and white tone-on-tone

21 ⁄ 2 × 251 ⁄ 2 " sashing rectangle in four rows.

8 ) Sew together pieces in middle rows.

Join rows to complete quilt top. Press

seams open.

FINISH QUILT

1 ) Layer quilt top, batting, and backing; baste.

3 ) Bind with red gingham binding strips.
