ASSEMBLE FLYING GEESE UNITS
Measurements include^1 ∕ 4 " seam
allowances. Sew with right sides
together unless otherwise stated.
Press seams in directions indicated
by arrows on diagrams. If no direction is
specified, press seam toward darker fabric.

1 ) Use a pencil to mark a diagonal line on
wrong side of each green print, navy
print, navy floral, and light blue print
11 ∕ 2 " square. (To prevent fabric from
stretching as you draw lines, place 220-
grit sandpaper under each square.)

2 ) Align a marked green print square
with one end of a brown print 1^1 ∕ 2 × 21 ∕ 2 "
rectangle (Diagram 1; note direction
of marked line). Sew on marked
line. Trim seam allowance to^1 ∕ 4 " and
press open attached triangle. Add a
matching marked green print square
to opposite end of rectangle to make
a green Flying Geese unit. The unit
should be 1^1 ∕ 2 × 21 ∕ 2 " including seam
allowances. Repeat with remaining
green print squares to make 42 green
Flying Geese units total (six sets of
three matching Flying Geese units
and six sets of four matching Flying
Geese units).

3 ) Repeat Step 2 using marked navy print
and floral squares to make 28 navy
Flying Geese units total (four sets of
three matching Flying Geese units
and four sets of four matching Flying
Geese units).

4 ) Repeat Step 2 using marked
light blue print squares to make
42 light blue Flying Geese units
total (six sets of three matching
Flying Geese units and six sets of
four matching Flying Geese units).
