A durable paper product that works up similar to leather,
Kraft-tex (ctpub.com) is a great leather alternative for bags
and accessories. It comes in many colors and in prewashed
or unwashed options. Use fabric glue or binding clips with
it instead of pins as any puncture holes will remain in the
product. If swapping in fabric for Kraft-tex pieces, add a
medium-weight interfacing to the fabric fi rst.

Measurements include^1 ∕ 4 " seam allowances.
Sew with right sides together unless
otherwise stated.

1 ) Following manufacturer’s instructions,
center and adhere fusible interfacing
31 ∕ 2 × 91 ∕ 4 " rectangles to wrong sides of blue
print 4× 93 ∕ 4 " rectangles. Repeat to center
and fuse interfacing 7× 91 ∕ 4 " rectangle to
blue stripe 7^1 ∕ 2 × 93 ∕ 4 " rectangle, interfacing
31 ∕ 2 × 33 ∕ 4 " rectangle to one blue stripe 4× 47 ∕ 8 "
rectangle, and interfacing 1×2 " rectangles
to blue print 1^1 ∕ 2 × 21 ∕ 2 " rectangles.

2 ) Lay a fused blue print 4× 93 ∕ 4 " rectangle
right side up. Referring to Diagram 1,
center gray Kraft-tex 1× 93 ∕ 4 " rectangle on
blue print rectangle; glue in place or secure
with binding clips. Measure^1 ∕ 4 " from each
long edge of gray Kraft-tex rectangle and
glue on a white Kraft-tex^3 ∕ 8 × 93 ∕ 4 " rectangle.
Topstitch^1 ∕ 16 " from all long edges of
Kraft-tex rectangles to make wallet
exterior unit. The unit should be 4× 93 ∕ 4 "
including seam allowances.

3 ) Following manufacturer’s instructions,
center and attach half of magnetic snap on
gray Kraft-tex rectangle of Step 2 unit,^1 ∕ 2 "
from right-hand edge. Note that depending
on the snap, you may need to cut slits for
snap’s prongs using a utility knife.

4 ) Layer two fusible interfacing^5 ∕ 8 " squares
atop each other; then layer them atop
wrong side of a fused blue print 1^1 ∕ 2 × 21 ∕ 2 "
rectangle, centered widthwise and^3 ∕ 8 " from
short edge (Diagram 2). Fuse squares in
place to make a fused unit. Repeat with
remaining squares and rectangle to make
a second fused unit.

5 ) Following manufacturer’s instructions,
center and attach second half of magnetic
snap to right side of a Step 4 unit,^1 ∕ 2 "
in from short edge with the interfaced
squares.

6 ) Fold in long edges and short edge with the
interfaced squares of Step 4 and Step 5
units^1 ∕ 4 "; press (Diagram 3). Layer units
wrong sides together with interfaced
squares together; topstitch^1 ∕ 8 " around
folded-under edges to make snap closure
(Diagram 4). You may want to use a zipper
foot on your sewing machine for the
topstitching. The closure should be 1× 21 ∕ 4 ".

7 ) On right side of blue print 4× 41 ∕ 4 " rectangle,
make a mark^1 ∕ 2 " and 1" from bottom
edge on left-hand side. Repeat with right-
hand side.
