Bias edges have more stretch than
fabric pieces cut on the grain and
can warp easily. Avoid handling the
bias edges as much as possible, use
lots of pins, and consider applying a
lightweight interfacing before cutting
pieces to help minimize stretch.

1 ) Fold an assorted white print 2^7 ∕ 8 ×42" strip
in half widthwise. Starting from raw edges,
cut two of Pattern A to make two A and
two A reversed sashing pieces (Diagram 1).
Repeat to make 86 A and 86 A reversed
sashing pieces total. (You will use 85 A
pieces and 84 A reversed pieces.)

2 ) Referring to Diagram 2, fold a print
61 ∕ 2 ×42" strip in half widthwise. Starting
from raw edges, cut five of Pattern B to
make 10 B triangles. Repeat to make 220 B
triangles total. (You will use 156 triangles;
the extra triangles allow you to pair them
and form diamonds in the quilt top.)

ASSEMBLE QUILT TOP
Measurements include^1 ∕ 4 " seam allowances.
Sew with right sides together unless
otherwise stated.
Press seams in directions indicated by
arrows on diagrams. If no direction is
specified, press seam toward darker fabric.

1 ) Referring to Quilt Assembly Diagram, lay
out A and A reversed sashing pieces and B
triangles in 13 rows, matching B triangle
prints in adjacent rows to form diamonds.
Each Row 1 should have seven A sashing
pieces, 12 B triangles, and six A reversed
sashing pieces. Each Row 2 should have
seven A reversed sashing pieces, 12 B
triangles, and six A sashing pieces. Designer
Minki Kim placed lighter pieces at the top
of the quilt, medium pieces in the middle,
and darker pieces at the bottom of the quilt.

2 ) To join pieces in each row, lay out A and
A reversed sashing pieces on bias edges
of B triangle with point of B triangle
facing down (Diagram 3). Place A sashing
piece atop B triangle, aligning long edges.
Carefully sew along bias edges; press open
attached sashing piece (Diagram 4).

3 ) Place A reversed sashing piece atop Step 2
unit, aligning edges. Sew and press as
before (Diagram 5).
