- To make sure the loop is wide
enough to accommodate the
focal bead, measure the bead at
its widest point and place 2 pins
on the edge of the pouch fl ap to
mark the length. (fi gure 8) Anchor
a new length of #8 perle cotton
thread and bring to the front of
the fl ap at the fi rst pin marker.
Make 2 straight stitches the length
of the loop leaving some slackness
to the stitches so that they form
a loop. (fi gure 9) Test to make
sure the bead dangle fi ts through
the loop before anchoring the
thread with a knot on the back
side. Bring the thread back to
the front, close to one end of the
loop, and work buttonhole stitch
over the loop threads. (fi gure 10)
Finishing touches
- Mark ¼ " seam allowances on the
RIGHT side of the 2 long sides
and 1 short side of the lining
fabric and iron to the wrong
side. Pin the lining on the inside
of the pouch. Trim and fold
under the seam allowance of the
second short side to conform
to the shape of the curved fl ap.
Sew the lining in place by hand.
(fi gure 11)
- Pin the pouch in thirds
and whip stitch the sides to
complete.
