MATERIALS
Makes a 1" x 1" x 2" house
- Fabric scraps—solids or very
small prints—for house, roof,
door, and windows - Ultra-fi rm fusible stabilizer (I
use Pellon® 71F Peltex™.) - Paper-backed fusible web
- Non-stick sheet or surface
- Hot glue gun
- Fine-tipped permanent
marker
DIRECTIONS
- Press fusible web to the back
of the fabric scraps. This will
provide good adhesion of fabric
to stabilizer in a later step. Trim
the fabric away to the edge of
the web so you know all of the
fabric has fusible adhered to it.
Remove the paper backing and
set fabrics aside. - The stabilizer is used to
construct the houses—the walls
and roof. Generally, the sides of
the house need to be the same
size. For a starter house, cut 2
pieces of stabilizer
1" (width) x 1 ½ " (tall).
3. For the front and back of the
house, cut 2 pieces of stabilizer
1" x 2". Mark the 1"-long edge
at its center (peak of the roof).
Mark the long side of the end
piece ½ " from the end (‘sides’ of
the roof). Cut the stabilizer from
that mark to the center mark.
This creates the peak of the
house. The sides of the house
will match the front and back of
the house. (fi gure 1)
