(WallPaper) #1
MARIA SOBRINO
Wallpaper* interiors stylist
Sobrino has realised some of Wallpaper’s
most beautiful interiors stories. This month
her Space story (page 196) and newsstand
cover are an immersive visual narrative
in the distinctive palette and geometry of
Russian Constructivism. She has long
been drawn to the movement’s simplicity
and boldness, she says, and, working with
photographer Tommaso Sartori, sought
to ‘encapsulate what an El Lissitzky painting
would look like if you lived in it, as a three-
dimensional space’.

ALICJA KWADE
Artist
With three solo shows opening this autumn –
at Berlin’s König Galerie, Copenhagen’s
Kunsthal Charlottenborg and Finland’s
Espoo Museum of Modern Art – Polish
conceptual artist Kwade is set for a busy
summer. We imagine that she’ll be eating
plenty of her favourite green papaya salad,
a brightly lavoured, weather-appropriate
dish that can be ixed up in a matter
of minutes. See her recipe for our Artist’s
Palate series, page 226.

BARBARA PROBST
Photographer
Based between New York and Munich,
German photographer Probst toys with the
moment of photographic exposure, taking
simultaneous shots using multiple cameras
placed in diferent locations. For our fashion
story (page 208), she dissects the dynamism
of New York, ofering dual perspectives of
moments on a SoHo street: ‘My work reveals
the idea that we are all subjective; the way
we look at things is very diferent and not
necessarily right or wrong.’

BEPPE BRANCATO
Photographer
We’re very much at home in The Wallpaper*
House this issue (page 113). Our room-by-
room round-up of this year’s most fanciable
furniture was photographed by long-time
Wallpaper* contributor Brancato. ‘I like
to get on set with a free mind, without
boundaries, to be able to play with the
lights like I did for this story, where every
location has its own lighting,’ says the
Milan-based photographer, who is currently
busy working on This Will be the Place,
an ongoing book project for Cassina.

SARAH EVANS
Illustrator
British architect-turned-artist Evans
is the founder of London design studio
Oscar Francis. For this issue, she illustrated
a medley of international projects by
emerging practices for our Architects’
Directory (page 102), in her studio’s
signature graphic, block-colour approach.
‘It’s great to see the varied and exciting
projects from architects around the world,’
says Evans, who is currently preparing her
display for an upcoming group exhibition
at Jealous in London.

BENOÎT LOISEAU
Writer
A Belgian-born writer who shuttles
between Mexico City and London, Loiseau
is currently busy curating a show of João
Gabriel’s work at Galeria Mascota in Mexico.
For us this month, he travelled to France
to visit Jorge Pardo’s latest project, a hotel
inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s stay in Arles
(page 080). ‘Pardo has introduced his own
take on the site, bringing the colours and
materials of his adopted home of Yucatán,
while paying homage to van Gogh’s vision.’
