ANOTHER COLOUR

this use innovative, visually dazzling techniques. Another
Colour, an Australian creative studio based in Sydney, exudes
this kind of ingenuity with this new portfolio site.
Using the theme of ‘colour’ as its brand motif, Another
Colour immediately greets visitors with a rainbow-like
spectrum of hues. A constantly shifting linear gradient provides
the perfect background to an infinitely scrolling splash page,
with project links endlessly floating through the viewport.
Based on a set of colour-paired <div> elements, this palette-
cycling trick ably complements the imagery on show.
The site’s development was handled by independent developer
Nathan Davis, AKA Fine Thought. “The transitions are the mostinteresting part,” he says. “I tried HTML5 canvas and libraries
like PixiJS but ran into issues using a transparent canvas across
the viewport. So we’re powering the transitions with CSS, with
sprites that contain 24 frames applied to the gradient overlay
using the CSS mask property. It then uses a keyframe animation
