I
still vividly remember the time I took my first proper long-exposure
landscape using a neutral density filter attached to my wide-angle
Canon lens. The joy of extending my shutter speed beyond the
standard limits to capture artistic motion blur in the passing clouds
in the sky, and the river snaking through that Lake District scene, is
something that’s stuck with me. It was only a 3-stop ND filter, but that
was all we needed in the decreasing light at the end of the day to slow
down my shutter speed for a more creative shot. In this issue we’re
