Nick documents his family trip as they fly all
the way to Sri Lanka for a wonderful holiday
n March 2018, my
family and I travelled
from our home in
Colorado, USA, for
over 39 hours, to
reach our destination
of Tangalle, Sri Lanka.
I chose to go on holiday for a
week in this remote place for
numerous reasons; blue
whales, leopards of Yala
National Park, tropical
beaches, and the Buddhist
temples. It’s a country rich in
histor y, diversit y, and home to
the most graciously humbled
culture I have ever comeI
01
across. It’s also a gold mine for
photographers and we all fell
totally in love with it.

I took was of my ten year old
daughter walking towards the
seaplane, and remains one of
my favourites – she’s carrying
a backpack as big as she is!
In the decision to take this
trip, I wanted to capture all of
what this beautiful country
had to offer, and hope I did.
There are challenges in
anything worth having,
photographically in this case.
