It’s^ commendable^ that^ Pertti^ has^ been^ shootin

g the^ changes^ in^ his^

environment^ for^ over^ four^ decades!^ During^ this

time period^ he’s^ shot^

some amazing^ images,^ with^ the^ red^ sunrise^ being^

a personal^ favourite.

The^ two^ areas^ we’d^ consider^ improving^ woul

d be to^ look^ for^ a^ more^

obvious^ focal^ point^ in^ his^ landscape^ images,^ su

ch as including^ a^

lighthouse^ or^ tree^ within^ the^ frame.^ For^ his^ wildl

ife pictures^ it’d^ be^

worth^ trying^ to^ plan^ ahead^ to^ increase^ his^ s

uccess^ rate^ with^ shots.

over. The whole incident was
over in a few seconds, but I
was able to get a picture.
One of my favourite images
is of this adult mallard with
his two young, which again
was pure chance. It was a cold
morning in July and the chicks
were seeking some warmth,
so huddled up close together.
Because it was cold they
stayed together long enough
for me to set up my camera on
a tripod and take a picture
with my Canon EF 300mm
f/4L IS USM lens. I also use
1.4x III and 2x teleconverters
to zoom in more and get

wildlife isn’t close. The great
crested grebe was nesting near
public path and café.
I’m going to keep
documenting my surrounding
landscape for as long as I can
and try to shoot as many
different lighting conditions
and seasons as possible.
