Opening next month at Amsterdam
photography museum Foam,
‘Feast for the Eyes’ ofers a rich
history of food photography,
from 19th-century still-lifes and
vintage cookbooks to conceptual
art. There’s plenty pre-dating the
#foodie generation, showing
just how long people have been
obsessed with capturing what
they eat, in all its glorious forms.
Consider this jelly recreation of
the danceloor in Saturday Night
Fever, photographed by Grant
Cornett, or the slightly absurd
Watermelon/Bread by Robert
Cumming. Mouthwateringly good.

A hybrid shoe blurs the
boundaries between combat
boot and skate sneaker
As the boundaries between formal- and casualwear
have blurred, and sportswear has become a luxury
staple, hybrid designs have emerged that assimilate
a variety of shapes and styles. Staying one step ahead
of this synergistic aesthetic is Milan-based label
Neil Barrett, whose Tank boots, in a graphic black and
white print, bridge the gap between the battleield
and the half pipe. Part military boot, part skate sneaker,
the style boasts the rubber toe and zip-detail of a
trainer, and a sturdy military-tread sole. We’re totally
commandeering the new fashion without frontiers.
