FOOD DELIVERY, AS WITH OTHER PARTS
OF THE SHARING ECONOMY, NEEDS TO
BE NURTURED

As we’ve seen, not everyone is flush with
optimism as to what the ‘Uberization’ of food
delivery and associated customers brings
to the various parties involved. The sharing
economy in general has attracted scathing
comments in certain quarters, including from
Susie Cagle, who has declared that while
‘sharing’ “was supposed to save us... instead,
it became a Trojan horse for a precarious
economic future.”

However, with this element of the sharing
economy still subject to so much flux and
change, it may be premature to suggest that
it is destined to become quite so dystopian.
Food delivery with the help of contractors
and technology was always likely to be a
development with certain ‘kinks’ that needed to
be ironed out.

As the years progress, it’ll certainly be
fascinating to see just how many more
innovations emerge that will further maximise
the efficiency of the food supply chain, while
also helping to do so much more than merely
satisfy us when we’re peckish.
