Designers are squaring up

with a riot of right angles

Simple silhouettes dominate the design world,

but breaking up minimalist monotony is a

variety of surface finishes, from perforation to

corrugation. The latest is gridding. Eindhoven-

based studio Os and Oos has embraced a latticed

texture in its ‘Matrix’ collection and in its interior

work for opticians Ace & Tate, while designers

Claudia Moreira Salles, Stéphane Parmentier,

Adrian Cheng, David Derksen and Pablo Designs

have all squared up their recent work.
