Professional Photographer - USA (2019-12)

(Antfer) #1
When you work at PPA, you understand pretty quickly that when people refer
to the most wonderful time of the year, they’re not talking about jingle belling,
marshmallow toasting, or caroling out in the snow.
You know what I’m getting at: Imaging USA 2020 is just weeks away. PPA HQ
has been buzzing along with preparations for more than a year, and Labor Day
marks the start of full-tilt frenzy. And it’s not merely due to the tremendous
amount of work it takes to host more than 10,000 people. It’s also because we—
staff, volunteers, Board leadership, sponsors—are genuinely excited to be part of
this eminently relevant gathering for working photographers. Too, it’s because
we want to outdo ourselves every year, promising a bigger, better, more signi -
cant experience than attendees had the last time.

WHAT MAKES IMAGING USA 2020 SPECIAL?

  • A 150-year legacy of bringing together entrepreneurs who are serious about
their business and want to learn more, do more, share more.

  • Everyone in attendance—speakers, volunteers, members of the Board of Di-
rectors, Expo exhibitors, photographers both famous and freshman, entrepre-
neurs, award winners, PPA staff, medalists—encourages you to grow in your
    business and your art.

  • More than 80 prominent speakers handpicked by photographers who are
highly accomplished themselves. Each speaker has specialized expertise and is
willing to share their hard-won knowledge in educational sessions.

  • Not one but two world-class keynote speakers: Jim Kwik and Vanessa Van
Edwards. In addition to the enlightening solutions each of us can gain individual-
ly from such original thinkers, when we consume innovative ideas collectively we
have the bene t of gaining a common language and a collective set of ideas we
    can use to communicate together.

  • 100,000 square feet of Expo where you can get the feel of products and hear
authoritative speakers. We all love online shopping and video tutorials, but the
virtual world hasn’t yet replaced the tactile satisfaction of real life.

  • Awards programs that bring us together in celebration of amazing photogra-
    phy and laudable career achievements.

  • Do I need to mention the parties? Legend.

  • Perhaps most import is the professional good cheer that can be found in ev-
ery nook and cranny of the convention center. Gathered in pairs, intimate groups,
and larger meetings, we see people willing to give of their knowledge and empa-
thy for the elevation of their peers.
Recognizing that not every member has the opportunity to get to Nashville next
month for the convention, we’ve assembled in this issue tremendous insights
from some of the very experts who will be on hand at Imaging USA.
Best wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season full of hearts aglow and
loved ones near. See you in Nashville. •
