Hildreth says, and therefore the perfect model
for a Renaissance-inspired portrait
LOCATION: Studio
CAMERA & LENS: Canon EOS 5D Mark IV,
Canon 50mm f/1.2L lens
EXPOSURE: 1/160 second at f/11, ISO 100
LIGHTING: A Calumet Travelite 750r with a
LumoPro 36-inch octabox was the main light.
A small piece of white poster board under the
dog bounced light under his chin.
POST-CAPTURE: In Adobe Photoshop CC,
she did basic Camera Raw edits for color
balance, highlights, and dehazing. She used
a watercolor brush with a mask on the
background to create a textured, painterly
effect. Dodging and burning were used to
guide the viewer’s eye to the most important
