To quickly set a slider to a specific value double-click on the slider’s numerical
value and type a new amount into the box.

Step-by-step Make selective colour adjustments

1

Import a photo
Go to File>Import. Browse to our Autumn_
start.jpg file. Click ‘Review for Import’. Double-
click on the imported thumbnail to enlarge it.
Click the Edit button to access Photo’s tools.

2

Target a colour
Toggle open the Selective Colour panel.
As the shot’s leaves are mostly green, click on
the green circle to target that colour. Drag Hue
left to a value of -40 to shift green to yellow.

3

Adjust Luminance
While still working on the greens, drag the
Luminance slider left to -35. This darkens the
background leaves a little, making the girl and
her dog stand out more in contrast.

4

Expand the range
The start file features a range of different
green hues. To include more variations of
green in the colour hue change, increase the
Range slider to 1.50.

7

Before and after
To see the difference between your
start file and the autumnal makeover press
and release the ‘M’ key. This lets you toggle
between the before and after images.

5

Turn yellow to red
Green leaves often contain yellows too.
Click the Selective Colour panel’s Yellow box
and drop the Hue slider left to -15.00. Boost
Saturation to 10. Drop Range to 0.50.

8

Copy and paste
Once you’ve created your autumnal look
choose Image>Copy Adjustments. Browse to
a similar shot. Click ‘Edit’. Change it to autumn
by choosing Image>Paste Adjustments.

6

Brighten the edges
Open the Vignette panel and drag
Strength to -30. This lightens the edges of the
frame, adding a sun-bleached border to the
shot. Set Radius to 0.50 and Softness to 0.25.

9

Share your shot
After adding rich russet reds to your shot
choose File>Export>Export 1 Photo. To create
a file that’s suitable for sharing on social media
set photo Kind to JPEG. Click ‘Export’.
