ith GarageBand it is very easy to move song projects
across all of Apple’s platforms. Thanks to iCloud,
users can centralise project access before importing
special versions between devices. In this tutorial we explore
the demo-sharing prowess of the iOS Music Memos app, a
free Apple download from the App Store. Music Memos allows
musicians to capture snatch compositions quickly, while adding
drum and bass accompaniments to make your song ideas pop.
These recordings can be saved out to iCloud and then imported
into GarageBand on your Mac whereby you can keep the audio
recordings and smart tracks intact and polish them using the

When we were revisiting Music Memos
files for this tutorial, we found that the
method we have outlined for importing
your recordings into GarageBand
wouldn’t always work with the latest
Mac version. An alternate method is
to go to File>iCloud>Import Music
Memos File or open your iCloud
Drive in Finder, right-click on your
recording and then choose Open
With>GarageBand.Knowledge base
Patches and edits
You can, of course, use the Library
panel on the left to apply sound
patches to audio and MIDI tracks, or
indeed switch the default Drummer.
Similarly, the Smart Controls or Editors
panel facilitates advanced editing.
