As well as disabling Java when browsing the web, it is a good idea to do
likewise with Flash. Go to System Preferences>Flash Player to do this.

Browse privately
When opening a new Safari window,
go to File>New Private Window or press
the Shift+Cmd+N shortcut. None of your
history will be stored and no websites
remember while in this mode.

Clear your history
If you want to remove evidence of any
previous internet activity, go to History>Clear
History. You can remove individual sites by
clicking on ‘Show All History’, highlighting a
site and pressing Delete.

Auto-clear
GotoSafari>Preferences>General
andyouwillseeanoptioncalled‘Remove
historyitems’.Considersettingthisto‘After
OneDay’tohaveSafariautomaticallyerase
yourhistoryasyougo.

Manage your online passwords


Access your
password prefs
Go to Safari>Preferences and
then click on the ‘Passwords’
tab. You will need to enter your
account password to access
these settings (and you will get
timed out after a while), but once
done, every stored passwordwill
be displayed.

Take action
Click on the ‘Details’ button
to get a rundown of what
sites a duplicated password
is used on (and where to
change it). You can also
share passwords from here
via AirDrop.

Clicktoreveal
Eachpasswordin thelistwill
behiddenbydefault,but
theywillberevealedto you
simplybyclickingonthem.
Alternatively,highlightan
entryandthenclickonthe
‘Details’button.

Advance warning
Pay close attention to any alert signs
that you see next to passwords.
These indicate that duplicate
passwords have been used across
multiple sites. Click on the ‘!’ Icon
to get more information about a
particular site.
