Remember to never touch your iPad screen while driving or even when
stopped with the engine on. Use ‘Hey Siri’ if you can at all times.

Practical considerations

1

Mount it safely
You will need to buy a mount that fits
your iPad securely and which will hold it
in place. Also, make sure you locate it in a
safe position that will not distract you while
you’re driving.

2

The right mode
There are apps available that can
change the interface of iOS and iPadOS
to make them look more like standard car
displays with bigger touch points. They also
add extra safety.

4

‘Hey Siri!’
Hey Siri will be the perfect way to stay
safe, and within the law, while driving with an
iPad. Use it to select any Apple Music song
or to play podcasts and navigate in style.

5

Learn for free
The Podcasts app is easy to manipulate
on an iPad and you can then listen to as
many varied episodes as you like while on a
long journey. You will likely use it very often.

6

Read without reading
Audio books are growing in popularity
all of the time and the Kindle app is a great
offering where you can read normally or
listen to books through the iPad while driving.

7

Two at once
Don’t forget that within iPadOS you can
easily use two apps at once on the bigger
screen. Make sure, however, that you set this
up safely before you actually start driving.

8

Are we there yet?
If all else fails and the kids are getting bored and restless, take the iPad out of its cradle
and give it to your kids to keep them entertained during your longer journeys.

3

A bonus use
Positioned in the right place you can
even use your iPad as a virtual dash cam.
This will be much cheaper than buying a
standalone device and it could save you a lot
of money.
