In tvOS 13 it is possible to remove unwanted apps
and clutter from your Home screen

Customise your

Apple TV Home screen

Reposition your apps, create folders and remove unwanted
clutter to make your Apple TV work better for you

W

ith so much content
available on your Apple
TV, it’s important that the
right apps and content are positioned
where you want them. You don’t
want to keep scrolling through loads
of icons to find Netflix or Apple TV,
for instance – indeed, you may want
to group like-minded apps within
individual folders and delete apps you
don’t need any more.
Apple has made customising your
Home screen easy and, with tvOS
13, it has added a new autoplay
feature that plays full-screen video
previews. It is also possible to use
Dark Mode so that the glare of the
menu screens isn’t too stark in a
dimly-lit room. This is accessed via
Settings>General>Appearance,
letting you select Light or Dark. Set
it to Automatic if you want it to follow
day and nighttime hours.

Press and hold
The positioning of the apps on your Apple
TV Home screen is not fixed. If you wish to
move an app, highlight it before pressing and
holding the Siri Remote’s Touch surface.

2

Swipe to move
The app icon will jiggle, at which point
you can move it around the screen. Do this
by swiping your finger on the remote’s Touch
surface until you find an ideal location.

3

Placing it top
If you place the app’s icon in the top,
highlighted row, you can benefit from dynamic
previews. Highlighting apps positioned here
can also show specific content shortcuts.
