Get monitoring

Once everything is in

place, your Apple Watch

will listen out for excessive

environmental noise. If it

exceeds your threshold

then your Watch will notify

you accordingly.

Set a level

Tapping ‘Noise Threshold’

will allow you to set a

limit. Make your choice

or simply tap on the ‘Off’

option to cancel all sound

level notifications.

When your Watch

microphone is set

to measure sounds

throughout the day tap on

‘Noise Threshold’.

I have heard that my Watch can check for loud noises that

I heard that it is possible to install fonts on my iPhone. Could you

tell me how this is done please? John Dexter

Install the fonts

Tap on the ‘Activate’ button

and then tap ‘Agree’ to confirm

that they are for personal use.

Now tap on the ‘Install’ button to

start installing them.

Enable fonts

When the fonts have

been installed, go to Settings>

General>Fonts and enable them

by turning on the switches. You

can now use the fonts.

Select font

The new fonts will only work

in apps that allow you to select

fonts, such as Pages. Tap on the

paintbrush icon in the toolbar and

then choose a font to use.

This may sound like a silly

question but I am new to

Macs and wondered if

there’s any way to make

that strip of apps at the

bottom of the screen

any smaller?

You have full freedom to

do whatever you want with

the Dock. Open System

Preferences and click on

the ‘Dock’ pane and you’ll

see a slider to adjust the

size. There is also a slider

to adjust the magnification

effect when you highlight

an app and we recommend

ticking the ‘Automatically

hide and show the Dock’

option so that it vanishes

when not in use.

This is a new feature of iOS 13, so make sure that your

device has been updated and then you will need to go

to the App Store and search for font apps – Font Diner

is a good one. It is worth remembering that you can

only use new fonts in specific apps, such as Pages

• you can’t use them as system fonts, for example.
  When the fonts have been installed, go to Settings>
  General>Font to view and enable them.
