As strange as it may seem, in the first 12
versions of iOS there was no specific folder
for Safari downloads, but this has all changed
in iOS 13. Now you can download files
from Safari on your iPhone, save them to a
Downloads folder and even access them on
your Mac. Here we’ll guide you through the
long-awaited process...


How do I download


files from Safari, and


where are they stored?

Download links
To download files in Safari,
long-press on a link or
button on a web page. A
menu will be displayed
which gives you the option
to download the file.

Find downloads
Tap the magnifying glass
icon to find downloaded
files. If downloads are
set to save to the iCloud
Downloads folder, the Files
app will automatically open
to display the contents.

Safari download settings
If you go to Settings>Safari and tap on
the ‘Downloads’ option, you’ll be able
to set the downloaded files to be stored
on your iPhone, in the Downloads
folder on your iCloud Drive (the default
option), or choose another location for
them to be saved to by tapping on the
‘Other’ option.

Download icon
This Downloads button
only appears when you
have downloaded at least
one file and have certain
settings enabled.

Delete downloads
Swipe a download to delete it
from the downloads list (this
won’t remove the download
from your device, just from
the list. Tap on the ‘Clear’
option at the top of the list
to remove all of the items or
swipe left and tap ‘Delete’ to
remove them individually.
