Vander’s KURBIS Bluetooth
speakers, and the powerful
punch that they packed, last issue – but
these 700 watt peak power (140 watts
RMS) BT studio monitor speakers are
something else altogether...Power to the people
With 700 watts of peak power, subwoofer
and advanced bass technology, the KUGEL
speakers can transform your home into a
semi-professional studio. Together with a
built in dual amp, each speaker contains a
6.5-inch woofer made entirely of Aramid
Fibre (in its characteristic yellow colour),
and the upper ring of the suspension
is made of elastic rubber, which allows
greater displacement sensitivity and
resistance to sound bumps. Each unit also
sports a 1-inch silk tweeter that allows
the reproduction of high frequencies in a
pure and crystalline way. The suspension
ring also contains silk, which optimises
precision by allowing extremely thin
rhythms. They sound amazing.
Setting up the speakers is easy, just
connect the active unit to the passive one
via the durable four-pin cable, power them
on and then hold the Bluetooth pairing
button for a couple of seconds after which
they will become discoverable to your
Mac or iOS device. There is also a wired
option thanks to RCA 3.5mm stereo and
S/PDIF optical outputs, making these
speakers compatible with phones, tablets,
DJ controllers, TVs, computers and just
about any other modern output device
you’d care to mention.
