Now superseded by the 2nd-gen AirPods and the AirPods Pro models,
the original wireless earphones had plenty to shout about. Each pod
contained two microphones (one at ear level facing outward and the
other at the bottom of the stem) and a decent charge return of around
five hours (with a further 24 available from a fully-charged case).
And although initially being unfavourably referred to as, “EarPods with
the wires cut off,” their popularity soon grew and they were even voted
the most popular ‘hearable’ brand of 2019. Their price, even when
launched, is still very competitive in the wireless earbud market.
