Daphné Launay is a freelance art director based in Paris,
France who also works across photography and video
production. A graduate of the prestigious Gobelins, L’École de
L’image school of visual communication and arts, she presents
this slick new portfolio to showcase her formidable talent.
Unsurprisingly, the site’s design is focused around images
and a selection of viewport-wide photographs describes six
core sections: Beauty, Work, Portrait, Fashion, Project and
Outdoor. All hint to Launay’s style, with a shuffling carousel
of examples to open. Circular ‘Enter’ hotspots trigger zooms
on rollover; clicking on them navigates to the top of each
subsection and the works within.
When it comes down to actually displaying shots, there are
some lovely transition effects to swipe between frames. The
custom mouse pointer provides useful instruction on areas of
interaction and it’s nice to see credits for Launay’s collaborators
and the featured models. Colour is minimal and in a neutral
#E0D8CE hue to help the flesh tones pop, while the magazine-
like Alasar font styles the distinctive vertical headings. On other
devices the portfolio maintains that look, optimising photo
ratios and interactivity for smaller touchscreens rather well.
