designer and developer, Richard Mattka has a
decade of experience to showcase. His impressive
skills, particularly within 3D graphical work, are
presented tastefully in this new portfolio. Featuring
music by Michael Vignola, alongside reel music
credited to Arthur Basov, the site immediately sets a
sultry, sci-fi tone with a planet-like WebGL orb.
From this initial landing screen, we have links to
six core sections spanning Work, Prototypes, Art,
Press, Info and Reel. Click any and the orb expands
to reveal two column rollover menus packed with
jaw-dropping visuals for high-profile commercial
projects and personal experiments.
“The goal with my new portfolio was to create
an experience that reflects my passions for digital
art and effects, both in film and interactive,”
Mattka explains. “Technically, my approach is not
conventional, custom-creating much of the site,
combining WebGL, three.js and GLSL together in
some new ways to create something I hope is fresh
and exciting. I made the site transitions between
pages seamless to allow the music and visuals to
be uninterrupted, as visitors explore my projects,
prototypes, articles and artwork.”
