FATHER - I GOT IT

(dj33miles) #1
Yes, my father had favorites, he never said so, he never denied it (but, it's not like anyone would
have ever asked him)

I think he enjoyed each of us more in distinct eras in our lives...that maturity level thingy. He was
denitely proud of each and every one of us.

Yes, I know dad had a favorite daughter, but I never cared about that. Too many(5) to keep up with.

My eldest sister relocated to New York, she resided there for at least 30 years. Number #3 female
sibling inuence was strong, as my 3 sisters Numbers (#5,#6, & #7) would eventually join her in
residence in the big bright lights scenery and fridge winters of New York.

When she, (sibling number #3) came home to visit, the entire family would be thrilled beyond
imagination including our father.

She would eventually relocate back home after her early retirement. She resided with our parents
until she bought her own home. My parents enjoyed her stay with them.

I learned it was the best time to be around pops to ask questions and ask for stuff that would
normally get a negative response from him. He really enjoyed her presence.

(Asking for stuff) - lesson learned;

My father didn't take holidays well. I understand better now. There we were, a house full, limited
income and everyone wanted a holiday of appreciation. He tried, lord knows he tried.

A lot depended on what days the Holidays fell on when it came to the siblings' denition of "Happy
Holidays".

There was a minimum of one gift per child and a maximum of 1 gift per child. We got it, no one ever
complained. He always said "Don't wait for the holidays. If you want something. "GET IT TODAY".
That wise option sounded good, but realistic options were few and far between.
