Over to You

I

saw a reader letter in your
mag about mental health
and I can relate exactly to the
writer. Last year I was having
chemotherapy and felt this
chart helped me through.
Thankfully, I’ve had surgery
and got the all clear. However,
a few weeks ago my dad
passed away so I am going
to get it framed and give it to
my mum as she loves sitting in
the garden. I feel that this one
project alone has brought us
all together.
Valerie Routledge,
via email
Sue: Sorry for your loss,
Valerie. How lovely that you
and your mum will take some
comfort from this piece.

Star Letter

I

cannot thank you enough for the ‘Positive Affirmation’
card charts. I have bipolar, depression and anxiety. I use
cross stitch to keep myself busy, though I struggle to finish the
bigger patterns. These patterns are perfect in size and very
poignant. I look forward to finishing them all and framing
them for my living room, so I can look at them when I am not
feeling so good. I chose my own colours and made the flower
a forget-me-not to remind myself that the pain does stop, and
I also embellished it with seed beads. I’m so pleased with it.
Please can we see more mental health patterns? Thank you.
Traci Hanwell, via email
Hannah: Traci, we are so touched by your letter and your
honesty about your mental health. Your words are such an
inspiration for others. This finished piece from issue 280 (May
2019) is amazing, yet your work also represents how the act
of sitting and stitching can help you on those particularly
difficult days. Keep stitching and keep in touch, and we will
aim to put more mental health charts out there in the future.
