Project Fox Cushion

sew a lazy daisy

embroidery stitch

How to...

1 Secure your thread at the back of your work. Now, bring your
needle up at the centre of your lazy daisy stitch, then take it back
down through the fabric next to where it came up. Make sure not to
pull the thread all the way through to the back, so that you create a
loop on the front of your fabric. This will be your first ‘petal’.

2 Bring your needle back up where you want the top of your
petal to be. Take your needle back down over the thread loop as a
tiny anchoring stitch. Check on the chart where the tip of the flower
petal should be, because each one is slightly different.

3 Just repeat steps 1 and 2, bringing your needle up at the
centre each time, for a flower made up of lazy daisy stitches. Please
note that your flower will have 5 ‘petals’, not 6 like the example here.

This fox is full of
character and the
backstitch brings
the whole scene
to life. This’ll look
fab next to Fiona’s
hare cushion I have
already made.
