Q

What is on letter G on
page 57 in issue 285
(Oct, 2019)? It’s such a
clever alphabet.

Fiona says: This
great ‘Craft ABC’ by
Diane Machin includes lots
of stitchy and craft-related
references. The letter G
shows two skeins of thread,
with the paper band wraps
in the middle and the
thread looping out at either
end. Can you see it now?

Q

One pattern I rarely find
in simple terms is polar
bears. Most have clothing on,
are Christmas themed, etc. I’ve
got a six-year-old polar bear
mad child who has started
stitching herself. So, a simple
polar bear would be lovely for
her to attempt, but would also
be really nice for me to stitch
on her bags and coats.

Jenny says: Here’s a
nice easy polar bear
design for you, Victoria – I
hope your daughter enjoys
stitching him, too!

Q

Do you know anywhere
that might send out
beginner kit samples?
Angie McMinn,

Katriel says: We’d
recommend you start by
trying some beginners’ cross
stitch kits. The Mouseloft*
‘Tiddlers’ range is great for
those new to stitching as the
mini kits cost only £1.54, like
this ‘Red Parrot’ (003-G03sml),

which contains 14-count aida,
DMC threads and a needle
along with full, easy-to-follow
instructions. You’ll also find
that The World of Cross
Stitching comes with an
exclusive gift – these can often
be quick-stitch card kits
suitable for novices, too. You

sister title, Cross Stitch Crazy
