patternsasit helpstostopuntidyseams
thatmightotherwisebevisible.A provisional
cast on requires two needles held together
anda pieceofwasteyarnlongerthanthe
cast-onedge.Placetheslipknotaround
bothneedlesandthewasteyarn(1)and
thenjustkeepwrappingtheworkingyarn
aroundboth(2).Continueknitting,leaving
thecast-onstitches‘live’onthewasteyarn
(3).Knotthewasteyarntokeepthestitches
safe.Whenyouneedtostartworkingfrom
thecast-onend,justslipa needleintothe
