beplentyof differencesin materialsandstyling,but

mostfollowthesamebasiclayout.Whichis why

it’srefreshingtocomeacrosssomethingas

inventiveastheVanguardVeoRange36M.

Atfirstsight,thislookslikejustanother

traditionallystyledcanvasbag.Buta

full-widthhorizontaldividerseparatesit into

twocompartments,oneaccessedfromthe

topforyourcamerakit,andtheother

througha flaponthefront.Thisgivesit the

unusualabilitytoaccommodatea traveltripod

upto33cmlonginternally.Alternativelythis

spacecanbeusedfora longtelephotolens,or

configuredtoholdotherkitusingmovabledividers.

Theflipsideis thatthetopsectionisn’tverytall,at just

12.5cm.Butit’llstilltakea smallmirrorlessbodywith

a shortzoomonboard,andtwoorthreemorelenses.

However,thebaghasanothertrick:thathorizontal

dividercanbefoldeddowntoforma more

conventionalinteriorspace.Now,doubling-updividers

verticallyallowsit to accepta largercamerakit,with

spacefora full-frameDSLRwithstandardzoom

attached,plusa largetelephotosuchasa

100-400mmor70-200mmf/2.8,anda

couplemorelenses.In thismodeyoucan

stilleasilystrapa tripodontothefront.

Otherhandyfeaturesincludea rearzipped

documentpocket,aninternalpadded

compartmentfora 13inlaptop(oryour

latestcopyof AP),anda pocketin the lid

that’sperfectforyourlenscaps.

Securityis a particularstrength:

onceyou’veloadedthebag,thetop

flapcanbeclosedusingzips,Velcro

andtwofrontclipstraps.Yetyoucanstill

easilyaccessyourgearviaa hiddentopzip

opening.Thewideshoulderstraphasa large,

grippyslidingpadthatmakesthebagcomfortable

tocarryevenwhenheavilyloaded,andthere’salso

a grabhandleforcarryingit likea briefcase.

AsusualfromVanguard,there’snothingto complain

aboutin termsof materialsandconstruction.Thebag

is madefromqualitynyloncanvaswitha softlining,and

is generouslypadded.If youdon’tlikethekhakicolour

of ourreviewsample, a navy blue option is available.
