If there’s one thing you can generally count on in a Final Fantasy game,

it’s that the “warriors of light” will save the day. Final Fantasy XIV’s

Shadowbringers expansion ($59.99), though, flips that concept on its

head and casts the light as an oppressive, all-consuming force that

threatens to consume the world—in another dimension, anyway. And so

this time around, you’re the warriors of darkness. It’s a simple concept,

but it provides fertile ground for the best story we’ve seen from Square

Enix’s popular MMO to date.
