WAVE EFFECTS
ThemoststrikingqualityofBargelloworkis inthewavepatternsthat
canbecreatedtogeneratemovement.Thepositionofthestrips,how
theyaresteppedupordown,andusingvariablestripwidthscanallaect
thelookofthefinalpattern.AllofthismeansthatBargellois a great
techniqueforexperimentingandcreatingyourownuniquedesigns.
Fig 10 showspiecedstripsofthesamewidth,creatinggentleundulations
bybeingsteppedupordownbyonefabriceachtime.Fig 11 showsthat
moreinterestingmovementcanbecreatedbyvaryingthewidthofthe
cutstrips,withsometipsgivenonhowtoachievedierenteects.In
manycases,thesteppingupordownis donebya fullstripwidth,asin
Fig12A, butyoucouldstepupordownbyjusthalfa stripwidth,as
showninFig12B, althoughyouwillnoticethatthisarrangementtends
tosmoothoutthewaves.Thispartial stepping does have the advantage of
having no seams to match up.
