neatslipstitch,closetothefolded
edge,appliquéthestriponbothsides
(Fig 1 ). Thereis noneedtoturn
under the ends of the strip.

Stitchthe8inbiasstripat the
topleftofthepattern(forthe
goldcresttoperchon),followedby
the 6 instrip,whichsitsbehind
thebullfinch,coveringoveroneraw
edgeofthepreviousbranch(Fig 2 ).
Lastly,stitchthe12instrip(forthe
bullfinchtoperchon)coveringthe
raw ends of previous branches.
