Over to You

H

i, thought I’d send you
pics of some of the
birthday cards I’ve recently
stitched. I have a few friends
with special birthdays this
year so, with the help of
charts from magazines, I
stitched these. I used different
blackwork numbers from an
old WOXS, the parcels are
part of a chart from Cross
Stitch Card Shop and the fonts
are from a book I have. The
Forever Friends mount is from
a WOXS gift. It’s for a friend
of nearly 40 years and we are
both members of a ‘Butterfly
Club’ so this mount was
perfect as it has butterflies on
as well as Forever Friends.

Sweet greetings

Sue: I really like your
collection of cards, Sylvia and
I’m sure the recipients will
be thrilled when they receive
them. Your friend of 40 years
will appreciate the effort you
took to make them a card so
personal to your friendship.

reetings WOXS! For years I have started and not finished
cross stitch projects. I always seem to lose count and
mess it up and give up. I decided to go back to basics and not
be too ambitious and see if I could actually complete a cross
stitch whilst I was recovering from an operation.
After much frustration and persuasion from my daughter
to carry on, I did complete this little fella (I am a bit of a
gnome nut). He is not perfect, but my friend assures me
most people aren’t so I am happy with him and he is on
display in my craft room. Since then I still struggle but have
completed a couple of easy designs – I am determined to get
a more complicated one done! My message to all is be kind
to yourself and if there is a stitch or two out of place, be fine
with it, no one but you will know!

Hannah: What a lovely motivational story, Elaine – thank
you for sharing this with us. We think the gnome looks simply
perfect! Our Design Libraries are always a good source for
small charts that are quick-to-finish inbetween larger ones.
