1 To work out how long to cut your evenweave, first measure the length of
your table then cut your material to this length plus an excess of 10cm (4in),
and a width of 32cm (12½in).

2 Stitch the floral pattern on one end of the fabric. Then, keeping your
stitching facing up, rotate the fabric 180 degrees and stitch the floral pattern
again on the opposite end – be sure to line them up perfectly so the borders
will meet up in the middle. Repeat the border for the required length between
the two floral ends.

3 Trim your stitching with a 2.5cm (1in) border all around and cut out a
panel of backing fabric to match.

4 Pin the backing fabric panel onto the right side of your stitching,
sandwiching the edge of the lace trim between the two layers, with the
decorative side facing in. Sew around all sides with a 1cm (½in) seam, leaving a
gap for turning. Turn through and press.

5 Neatly slip stitch your gap closed to finish.

How to...

I love the
vintage feel of
this design. It
would make a
wonderful gift for
Mother’s Day or as
a centrepiece for
Easter Sunday.

EDITOR
